To give a personalized touch to all my thank you cards for Christmas this year, I decided to do a very quick photo shoot that had me highlighting the various gifts I go from friends and family. It actually turned out to be quite fun. However, I'm still having trouble coming up with a way to highlight the gifts from Santa as he gave me a wide range of gifts. Not to mention I don't have his e-mail address so I don't know how to get him the thank you. Hmm....

ridiculous i know. but i was staring at it while i was waiting for something to load on my computer and couldnt help but notice the amazing amount of memories i have attached to all of this. most of this stuff i have collected on my travels just as a memento of the time. there is no real cash value to much of this stuff, but the sentimental value is worth loads to me of course. i thought it would be fun to note all of this and share it with all of you.

Howdy, y'all, and happy holidaze! Yes, this is going to be *that* kind
of blogpost. This is the last day of official work before the holiday
break. I had stumbled on a couple of out-there (as in out in outer
space and lala land) holiday oddities that I've been saving just for
such an occasion. I went hunting for a couple more to round out the
collection, and this is what you get. Believe it or not, but brace
yourself either way.

Are you still decorating for the holidays? I hope so, because I have
some wild ideas to show you. This actually starts back about fifteen
years ago, when a feminist friend of mine in Chicago was making these
incredibly complex and sophisticated Barbie nativity scenes as a
commentary of some sort. She would never allow me to photograph them,
so this is not one of hers, but it gives you the idea.

After that, my brain was always on the lookout for odd and peculiar
twists to the holiday season, so it really tickled my fancy to find
the Zombie Christmas collection a couple weeks ago.

That directed me to the Zombie Christmas download collection, which
includes zombie Santa ornaments, tags, and holiday cards. Yes, really.

If you think Barbie and Zombie holiday decorations are too much, you
haven't seen ANYTHING yet.

There's more. Lots more. Here is a motherload of Merry Christmas
do-it-yourself geek papercraft decorations, from Dr. Who to Zelda.

If you still have some time on your hands (and can knit FAST), here is
an R2D2 toque to make for either gifting or wearing for next year's
Blue Beanie Web Standards day.

"What?", you might say, "those are entertaining, but they aren't
really geeking it out, since they aren't TECH." Alright, alright. Here
is some truly holiday geekery decorating. This geek reprogrammed his
LED Christmas lights to light up when his IM (instant message) pals
are online and available. Decorative, seasonal, AND geek. I like it!

If that's not enough, watch the Digital Story of the Nativity, which
made me laugh so hard I almost choked. But you have to be at least
just a little tiny bit of a geek to get it.
