Because I'm Me
The Valentine that I (and, it has to be said, half of Flickr) got from the multi-talented Flood. It actually caused a bit of a stir in our house as, firstly, I wasn't expecting it (despite her announcing she was sending them out) and, secondly, it arrivied just after Mrs Kobold and I had had a stressful afternoon at work, culminating in a slight tiff. Obviously an unexpected Valentine arriving from (to her) an unknown woman in Canada is not the kind of thing which endears you to a wife who is already wondering where the sharpest bread-knife is.
We laughed about it afterwards though :)
The worried look is just me still trying to get used to taking self-portraits with the iPhone. The whole thing was taken and processed in-phone. I forget which tools and filters I used.
The lovely crochet work is my contribution to the 'Woolen' category in the February 2012 Monthly Scavenger Hunt.
Vintage Valentine greeting

Vintage Valentine illustration of two women talking about the man in the background, with a heart shaped greeting, 'To My Valentine' - circa 1900.
The image was scanned from my personal collection and the color restored (digitally remastered). I also retouched it to remove scratches, cracks, smudges and age spots. This is typically about a 3 hour process. Here are four additional images I have restored as free Valentine eCards. Enjoy!

A Fairychuck Valentine's Day
I used this photo I took of a very rare and very real fairychuck to make a Valentine's Day card. Do not confuse these supernatural rodents with woodchucks or poopchucks. It's a common mistake. The fairychuck's most famous attribute is its ability to grant its captor the wish of the last person to have caught it. This makes fairychuck hunting a very exciting, but potentially dangerous sport...depending on what other people wished for. When I caught it I got a can of Hormel chili.
Happy Valentine's Day!

This is an photo taken a while ago of these two kissing (they still do this all the time though) but thought it would make a great Valentine card.
I hope you guys have a wonderful Valentines day!
