Summary (Singapore Train Transport System):

Through this idea, you would at the very least notice, which train door to board at the station near your home, in order to alight nearest to the escalator for the quickest journey to your work place.
Imagine how would you feel if i give you ,170 a year for the rest of your life?
Use this idea to secure a job & get a big Bonus

Benefits To individual readers:

We all know time is money.

If you commute by train at least 18 times a week, this idea would save you 3 mins per trip leading to a time savings of 18 * 3 * 52 weeks in a year = 2808 mins or 46.8 hours per commuter.
If the salary of middle management is 00 a month( 50 working hours * 4 weeks = 200 working hours)
46.8 hours of your salary = ,170.00
Imagine how would you feel if i give you ,170 a year for the rest of your life? Would you take it?

Even If you drive a fancy car and find no use for this idea, i am sure your children, grandchildren, friends, family, relatives, acquaintance would take train some point in their life. Would you like to give 00 a year to each of your loved ones for the rest of their lives?

Through this idea, you would at the very least notice, which train door to board at the station near your home, in order to alight nearest to the escalator for the quickest journey to your work place.

You could take this idea and sell to soon to be built/designed/revamped train stations projects and Transport Authorities in other countries and make positive impression at the interview to secure a job, bring benefits to the communities of developing countries or simply gain satisfaction of helping another human being.

How to use these reference pictures:
1. The numbers on the rightmost column indicate the train door no. that is located above the train door on the "station name sign".
2. Download the images to your phone; using android app "Photo Folder (purchased from Samsung app store)" i could create short cuts to the pictures and placed on my phone's home screen for easy accesss.
3. Refering to Northeast line pic: If you are currently at Sengkang Station (home) and need to travel to Clarke Quay station (work), open picture "To Harbourfront" (purple) and search for the row with the name "Clarke Quay". Beside the name, there are two numbers: "11" for the train door nearest to escalator to go to Central Shopping mall and "14w" indicates train door no. "14" open nearest to escalator towards the exit nearest to my workplace.

Lessons Learnt to Land Transport Authority:
The picture charts indicates the lack of planning and inconsistency in the design of the station around high traffic locations, e.g. suntec city, national stadium, and shopping malls.

How many engineers, management, office staff have noted this and kept quiet? How many other did not know this?

Imagine this:
The same train door no. open at the escalator nearest to the station exit towards the location of highest traffic flow for each and every station. You do not even need these reference pictures to know which train door to board.

(CEO, senior/upper management and/or important & powerful decision makers of big corporations drive big fancy car: success of this idea is low as they probably would not care. Further action may lead to opening a can of worms which may lead to reduction in their job security and BONUSES?)

If the rich and powerful, ignore this idea, this shows what their true core value as a person are, even though their company vision says otherwise.

Would Media spread/publish this idea? If they are afraid of offending the powerful, are they really true to their spirit of journalism and freedom of speech?

Action to take now:
1. The pictures are a workaround to current station design. Build a mini sign of the train door layout to face incoming passenger after they enter the station gates (tap card) to know which direction to move towards the train door for the next station.

2. Have the train door no. to face the same direction for both train direction. What is the reason for changing the train door no. if the train moves the opposite direction? In a medical emergency, the train door no. irregardless of the train direction would only serve as a reference indicator. Thus for simplicity sake, have the train door no. on opposite train directions be the same no.

3. Noted for some station, the escalator coming down from the platform to the passenger service is further away than the stairs coming down from the same platform. Why is that so? Why not have two escalators coming down from the platform as per other station design?

4. Incorporate this insight into future/upcoming train station designs.

5. Share this insight with transport authorities of other countries.

I dedicate this idea FREE(though i accept donations) to the billions of train commuters and the many more unborn commuters of the world.

You can download all the data, excel sheet, and powerpoint from here: docs.google.com/folder/d/0B6w9JX6nhYAQdU1QNVpHamplWUE/edit

Happy commuting.
