Hong Kong - Wedding card street

This photo was taken before the residents of Wedding card street were kicked out for the redevelopment of th area. It was where the people of Hong Kong used to go to get their wedding invitation cards printed with maybe a hundred shops lining the road. The residents were convinced that the compensation offered by the goverment was inadequate and they didn't want to move anyway. The yellow ribbons were part of their protest. The building in the background is the Hopewell centre, one of Hong Kong's first skyscrapers, and the first builind in HK to have an exterior elevator.
